30. September 2025 - Almost Still
(Bleu Précieux, Glitch Please 2025)
Sander Saarmets presents the first single and video, Almost Still, from his upcoming album Bleu Précieux, which will appear on the label Glitch Please.
Estonian composer and electronic musician Sander Saarmets will release his new album Bleu Précieux on October 17. As a first step, he shares the single Almost Still, accompanied by a video created by Bohdana Korohod and Maria Paiste, filmed in the French countryside.
The music video was inspired by a dead tree found in the fields of Ruillé-sur-Loir, France. “We were fascinated by how much life surrounded and inhabited this tree, and it soon became the central character of the piece,” says Bohdana Korohod. “Through improvisations with the tree and a dialogue with Sander’s composition, we discovered a shared theme: the contrast between quiet stillness on the outside and bursts of life and chaos within. The video explores this paradox, placing the seemingly alive human body alongside the seemingly lifeless tree.”
Saarmets had previously collaborated with Korohod on Performing inscribed trajectories – a play in walks (together with Daria Khrystych), presented at the Balto Scandal festival. With Almost Still, the creative dialogue continues.
With Almost Still, Saarmets introduces the sound world of Bleu Précieux, a body of work that traces the contours of memory, movement and place. Many of its processes emerge from generative systems rooted in the natural world, where structure and unpredictability coexist. Built from a wide range of electronic timbres and layers, the music often evokes the presence of acoustic instruments while remaining purely electronic.
